About Us

Happy Day provides year-round programming to meet the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of your children while cultivating an atmosphere of intellectual, creative and social stimulation. We are a non-profit Christian Organization, licensed with the State of Oregon since 1970, and continually strive to maintain the highest standards and quality.

Our Programs

Early Preschool, Ages 2 ½ – 3 years old

Happy Day welcomes all potty-trained early-preschoolers for full-day childcare. Our teachers support your little learners with engaging activities focused on achieving critical milestones. Basic numbers, letters, shapes and color recognition are introduced through a variety of engaging activities. Our classrooms combine play-based and foundational learning with a consistent routine that builds independence and prepares your curious child for Preschool.

Preschool, Age 4

Our dynamic preschool program incorporates basic literacy, number concepts, and biblical principles along with the critical skills (independence, character development, communication, respect) they will need to make a seamless transition into Kindergarten. Multiple activities and teaching strategies keep learning both interesting and fun.

Kindergarten, Age 5

Our Kindergarten program follows the Abeka curriculum and offers complementary before- and after-school childcare (optional, but included) to provide busy parents with an affordable, comprehensive program and consistency for the child.* Most Kindergarten students at Happy Day will learn to read (using phonics), basic addition and subtraction, counting, US currency values, telling time on an analog clock. Additional skills development materials, social studies and science, are introduced throughout the year. In a small classroom format, students receive ample one-on-one instruction and develop close friendships with their classmates.

Summer

Happy Day is open year-round to children ages 2½ through 12 years old and offers fun, interactive summer programming to support working parents and to keep kids actively learning throughout the summer months. Thematic teaching enhances the children’s interests in the world around them with new and interesting topics presented each week.

Our Teachers

All of our teachers take 18+ continuing education classes each year, and we follow state guidelines using a 1:10 teacher- student ratio for preschool children and 1:15 ratio for children in kindergarten and older. You can read more about our teachers here.

Nutrition
Our own cook prepares hot, nutritious meals and healthy snacks. We serve a variety of fresh fruit, vegetables, and whole grain foods.
